How It Works

Five steps from official register to Guide

The process is the same across the Guide. The requirements are separate for each institution type.

01

Confirm the data area

All required public data must exist.

02

Take the official population

Use the full eligible register for that institution type.

03

Check every line

Apply only the published standard and pass marks.

04

Verify twice

A second reviewer independently repeats the check.

05

Publish A–Z

Expire every result and repeat the next year.

Evidence order

Who publishes the proof matters.

Sources used
PrioritySourceUsed for
1Government, statutory regulator, inspectorate or courtLegal status, sanctions, external review and official outcomes
2Recognized examination, awarding or professional authorityOnly the results or qualifications it directly administers
3Institution’s public websiteFees, admissions, programmes, policies and contact routes
NeverPrivate files, marketing claims, rankings, news, testimonials or social mediaNot accepted as decision evidence

One failed or unproven check means no listing.

Strong results in one area cannot offset a failed requirement elsewhere. Institutions do not apply, provide private evidence or receive waivers.
